Safe Riding!

Dakine Hot Laps Hip Pack 5L

Portable size that packs a lot in

A two-in one! Great hydration pack and stand-alone hip bag

Hydration station

It says it’s a hip pack, but we make great use of the Dakine Hot Laps Hip Pack 5L attached to the Riverside Touring’s front bike rack – an ideal setup for us on multiday rides. We used the hip strap to secure around the handlebar stem and bike frame. Not only is this more comfortable during multiday rides, it also gives us easy access to water during rest breaks when refilling water bottles and dog bowls. When worn around the hip for shorter day rides, its breathable air flow back panel lowers the risk of overheating and gives us freedom of movement. We love that we can either wear it, or easily attach it onto the bikes.

As an hydration pack, carrying 2L along with all our filled water bottles gives us peace of mind. The Dakine’s HydraPak® is BPA and PVC free and lives leak-free in the main compartment of the 5L pack. A magnetic buckle hose clip secures the hose to the waist strap firmly. It stayed clipped throughout the rides and unclipped easily when we needed it. The drinking valve has a fast flow, perfect for filling dog bowls. The HydraPak® is also easy to refill, and an ease to wash out and clean before use with a wide enough opening.

It’s in the bag

The 5L pack is awesome for storage! It’s compact on the outside, colossal inside. You can fit quite a lot in! Snacks, bike tools, dog treats and dog bowls fit in the front pocket when secured on the bike rack. The front compartment is giving Virgo, and separated further with a zipper section, velcro pocket, and sleeve. The top pack handle was handy for transporting the pack on-and-off the bikes. The front zip section also has adjustable straps on both sides so we can fit more in, or make it smaller. When worn around the hip, the padded waist straps have a zipper pocket perfect for our phones, snacks, dog treats and poop bags. The external straps are a great place to hang jackets off or clip dog bowls onto when not stored in the bag.

Removing the HydraPak®, and using the Dakine as a stand-alone hip pack is a go-to for any outdoor activity with the dogs because of how much you can pack into this little bag. It’s also lightweight and easy to clean.

It’s designed for the outdoors. Designed for packability, hydration and movement, and we’re here for it.
